They came to be perceived as the embodiment of progressive ideals, extending its influence on social and cultural revolutions of the 1960s.
With initial training of five elements that included Lennon, McCartney, Harrison, Stuart Sutcliffe (bass) and Pete Best (drums), built its reputation in the clubs of Liverpool and Hamburg in a period of three years from 1960. Sutcliffe left the band in 1961 and was replaced by Starr Best next year.
After all its members embarked on successful independent careers. McCartney and Starr are still active, Lennon was shot to death in 1980, Harrison died of cancer in 2001.
